If there's an award for the Great Comeback Event of the Year, it would definitely go to BODYSHOTS 2008 Edition. The last time I got to cover this successful modelling search was in 2002 wherein Carlo Adorador and Arianna Javelona (niece of Bb. Pilipinas 2004 1st runner-up Tracy Ann Javelona) captured the male and female titles respectively - big thanks to good friends Ces Evangelista and Cata Figueroa for the special invitation, you guys are phenomenal!
Now, just look at the names it has produced over the years: Zanjoe Marudo, Joanne Abinuman, Wilma Doesnt, Eric Quizon, Lauren Novero, TV PBB director Laurenti Dyogi, Francine Prieto aka Anna Marie Falcon, beauty queens Maricar Balagtas, Jean Harn, Patty Betita, Gem Padilla, Marina Benipayo, Rachel Soriano, Joanna Penalosa... and the list goes on and on... all before they made a name for themselves in showbiz and fashion industry.
It all started in 1986 when BODYSHOTS model search was formed by the Professional Designers Association of the Philippines (FDAP) and that year, Leo Rabago was adjudged overall winner in the Professional Division while the winner in the Amateur Division was Benedict Navarro. Notice that it was just an all-male model search then. Now on its 16th season (no contests were held in 1990 - 1991, 1994 and 2005 - 2007), BODYSHOTS continues to remain true to its commitment in producing the country's top ramp and commercial models as well as showbiz personalities. It has become a tradition in the fashion world to scout from BODYSHOTS possible names that will excite the industry with their fresh faces and good body proportions. Of course, huge credit goes to the FDAP.
This year, another set of aspirants would like to try their luck in filling in the shoes of the past BODYSHOTS products. Fifteen male and female contestants (or finalists) plus entrants from North America and Britain are vying for the top spots in this year's BODYSHOTS search.
The venue and date for the Finals and Proclamation of the winners will be announced very soon. Don't miss it!!!!
